More Sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we were invited to go to a Hibachi restaurant tonight with some friends.  Knowing we have been to a few hibachi’s before, we thought we knew what we were getting into.  Boy were we wrong!!!

Their portions were beyond generous!  Oh my.  Couldn’t finish it.  So yummy.

 

And the sake.  We were warned.  But never did I expect the quantity.  ”More Sake.  More Happy.”  That is their motto.  Little did I know they really mean it.  We all got the occasional “shot.”  But I was in for a little more than I was prepared for.  As I leaned in to get round number three, Colin yelled “double” and our chef was into that!  Double I got.  ”Triple” Matty yelled.  Thanks Flap.  Triple shot I got.  Thinking I was done I went in to scoop up some rice.  ”4 time a charm!” the chef exclaimed!  The fourth mouthful was tough going down.  But boy did it taste good!  

 

Overall, it was the best experience I’ve ever had at a hibachi.  I say overall, because the place we usually go has THE BEST salad dressing and sauce for the chicken and steak.  We had a great time and I will SUUURELY be going there again.

Oh, and it was the best show ever, and we had the entire table to ourself  ;)

Good times.  Great company.  Very memorable night.

Making good wine is a skill.

But fine wine is an art.

Our friend Andrew (aka Load) brought over a bottle of strawberry wine last night.  This was no ordinary wine, this was homemade liquid goodness made by the talented Johnny and Rita (see Load’s parents).  I’ve had homemade strawberry wine before, but this surpassed anything homemade I’ve ever had.  Perhaps it was the dryness of the wine, or the zing it left on the palate.

I also tried the wine the way that they suggest.  Add a little sugar.  I’ve never heard of adding sugar right to bottled wine, but I gave it a shot.  And I was pleasantly surprised.  I wasn’t sure if the sugar would dissolve, but after a few vigorous stirs, it did.  Sweet Strawberry Wine.  MMmm, good!  I think I prefer it dry though.

It’s been awhile…

Had a great trip to the Finger Lakes last weekend! This was, I believe, our third time visiting Seneca Lake. It was just as beautiful as I remembered. There is nothing more relaxing than touring wineries. The atmosphere, the vino, and of course, the company. We are planning another trip this fall. (Besides the festival in the summer) The fall is the best time to visit, when the grapes are in full bloom. Looking forward to capturing some awesome pictures! We were sure to stop at Miles Cellars, one of my favorites, for some Call Me a Cab. Definitely one of the best wines on the entire lake, IMO. Colin’s choice would still be Bloomer Creek, and I must say it was the most memorable winery this time around. Great time.
