Making good wine is a skill.

But fine wine is an art.

Our friend Andrew (aka Load) brought over a bottle of strawberry wine last night.  This was no ordinary wine, this was homemade liquid goodness made by the talented Johnny and Rita (see Load’s parents).  I’ve had homemade strawberry wine before, but this surpassed anything homemade I’ve ever had.  Perhaps it was the dryness of the wine, or the zing it left on the palate.

I also tried the wine the way that they suggest.  Add a little sugar.  I’ve never heard of adding sugar right to bottled wine, but I gave it a shot.  And I was pleasantly surprised.  I wasn’t sure if the sugar would dissolve, but after a few vigorous stirs, it did.  Sweet Strawberry Wine.  MMmm, good!  I think I prefer it dry though.

Kudos Chonny.  You’ve outdone yourself.  His homemade brew is another post altogether.

Since we’ve tried to make our own wine we know how hard it is to make good wine, let alone great wine. Nice photos!
